A Word from the Chair

I hope everyone had a fun-filled summer vacation. As fall approaches, the Users Group committee has begun fine-tuning details for next year’s conference. We have some interesting things in store for next year, and we look forward to everyone’s participation. In the coming months, I’ll begin looking for speakers, sponsors, and vendors — all are so very important to helping us provide high-value content while keeping our costs down. We want everyone to be able to attend this great event!

In the mean time, don’t forget to visit www.3dsug.org for information and links to sponsors who support our amazing conference. As always this year’s conference is organized For Users, By Users. You have a voice and a collective group, we want to hear your ideas and suggestions. We had a great response from our online survey and appreciate your input as we move the group forward. Membership is always important so tell a colleague or friend about our organization. In tough economic times, word of mouth advertising is more important than ever!

As a special incentive this year, anyone who registers early online will qualify to win some great giveaways at the conference. This is different than anything we have ever done in the past, so don’t miss out!

I’m looking forward to seeing you at the 2011 Conference!

Getting Around Downtown Miami

Remember, the 3DS Users Group Conference is a business event, but just incase you are planning an extended stay, here are a few details you might need to know!

The Hilton Downtown Miami hotel is connected to the Metro Mover, a complimentary light rail service that takes guests to several restaurants and shopping areas downtown, including Bayside Marketplace. The hotel is ten minutes from the most amazing world-class beaches and only five minutes from the Port of Miami, known as the cruise capital of the world, where ships depart daily.

Sailing, fishing, golf and a variety of other recreational activities are just minutes from the Hilton Downtown Miami, Florida hotel. Several exciting and famous Florida attractions located nearby include:

The Sorovetz Report

Wow! I cannot believe summer is over. It seems just like yesterday that we were wrapping up the 2010 Conference. Well I hate to say goodbye to summer because is seems like it just got here, however, we are less than seven months from zero hour with a huge amount of work ahead of us.

Every year I turn to the Users at Large for your help and support, and this year is no different. We are in need of you, the attendee to help develop the 2011 Conference by letting us know what you would like in the way of presentations, hands on training, and discussion groups/round tables. Is there something that we left out that we can add to the Conference? How is the content? Do we need more presentations, or more hands on training? What needs to happen to make the 2011 Conference an invaluable Conference that would make it a “must attend” for everyone? We really need to hear your comments and suggestions so we can continue to grow this organization. Please contact the E-Board and let us know your thoughts, and please do not wait in hopes of someone else would send in the same comments.

Attendees and vendors, you know the drill, we need more. Many more, if we want to grow the Conference. I know that everyone has tight schedules, overworked and under paid, and no spare time to do anything, however I am asking everyone to find one new vendor, one sponsor, and one attendee for the 2011 Conference. Remember this is your Conference and User Group (for the Users, by the Users), and you can make a difference so please go through your contact list and sign someone up today.

Well that is it for now, and I am hoping that everyone will respond, not only to my questions, but also to the huge task at hand, by increasing content, head count, and sponsorship dollars. Thank you in advance for helping us out on such a critical issue and I am confident that the 2011 Conference will be a phenomenal success.
