President’s Report
I love quotes! I learned to truly appreciate them during my days as a Dale Carnegie instructor. Sometimes, the smallest “bit” has the greatest impact. A quote came across my path this morning stating, “It’s the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen.” – John Wooden.
Isn’t it interesting how small nuggets can find meaning in the varied tangents of our lives?
Little things…AMUG is absolutely filled with little things! Every detail, every minute invested, every phone call, every survey response, every discovery – they all play a part in making a big thing happen! AMUG is a big thing!
We have so many “little” things going on in preparation for March 2025. Some of them you won’t necessarily see, but they all build the product that we come to AMUG Conferences to experience.
Speaking of coming to experience… registration is open! Members and sponsors alike have the opportunity to register today.
For sponsors, be sure to look at the prospectus and define which offering best suits your needs/budget/desires. With any level of sponsorship, you will have the option to also book private meeting rooms by the day. Here, you can arrange private customer meetings, have demos/workshops of your own, or host your existing users to share feedback/updates. It’s a great way to have some extra time together focused right on you!
For members, take advantage of early-bird pricing. Remember, your registration is inclusive of the conference, AMUGexpo, meals, drinks, and evening networking events.
The AMUG Conference is an event designed for collaboration, connectivity, coaching, learning, and networking. We grow as the industry grows – by number, by technology advancement, by increased adoption, and by word of mouth. We look forward to growing alongside you!
Joyfully,
Shannon VanDeren

Joe Allison to Receive AMUG’s Innovators Award
Annually, AMUG selects one individual to receive its Innovators Award, which recognizes those who have cultivated innovations that have advanced the AM industry. The 2025 recipient is Joe Allison, principal of 3D Ventures and CEO of Gentle Giant Studios.
Since 1988, Joe has been instrumental in innovations that delivered value to those who use AM. To appreciate some of his work, check out our press release.
Following his on-stage chat in the Innovators Showcase, Joe will receive the award at the 2025 AMUG Conference. In the Innovators Showcase, he will respond to questions asked with the intent of getting to know the person behind the innovations and gaining guidance from his experiences. The Innovators Showcase is unique because it is structured as an intimate conversation between two acquaintances witnessed by AMUG Conference attendees.
Joe joins a very short list of Innovator Award recipients that includes Chuck Hull, Scott Crump, Carl Deckard, Fried Vancraen, Gideon Levy, Hans Langer, Andy Christensen, Diana Kalisz, and Greg Morris. Joe is also one of only two who have received the Distinguished INnovator Operator (DINO) award twice.

DINO Award Nominations Now Being Accepted
Planning for AMUG 2025 is well underway. To fuel the event’s highly anticipated annual naming of individuals who are deserving of a DINO (Distinguished INnovator Operator), we have opened the nomination process.
This is your opportunity to nominate a colleague or yourself for this recognition of contributions to the industry and the AMUG organization. Nominations are the first step in selecting up to 10 individuals for this esteemed award.
Please review the guidelines for selection and consideration online at DINO Selection. Note that ten years of industry experience is only one of the required attributes for the DINO Award. Contributions to the AMUG organization and attendance at AMUG events are essential.
If you aren’t currently involved as an AMUG volunteer, please reach out to a board member or submit a volunteer form (see below) to let us know you would like to get involved. There are many opportunities to help AMUG grow.

Onsite Volunteer Signup Now Open
The AMUG Volunteer form is LIVE for onsite activities at the conference. There are many ways to get involved at the conference, and we encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to help while networking and learning about what goes into making a successful experience for our members.
Onsite activities include stuffing swag bags on Saturday, March 29, before the conference; helping at the AMUG registration desk Sunday through Thursday; and assisting Track Leaders with moderating sessions or helping with workshops throughout the conference. ‘Hosting’ is another option: be a guide for AMUG members for functions such as distributing networking lunch tickets or providing directions to sessions.
Additional programs to get involved in are supporting the Marketing Committee with signage placement or supporting the Expo Committee with AMUGexpo tasks such as being a ‘runner’ or assisting with security. Finally, there are opportunities to help with the AMUGderby or New Member Tours through the AMUGexpo.
To be considered for any of these programs, you must complete the volunteer form.
For more information about any of the onsite activities, please contact us at volunteer@amug.com.

Overwhelming Media Support
While spring 2025 has many contemplating which event(s) to attend, AMUG’s slate of media sponsors has offered overwhelming support for AMUG 2025. Without hesitation, all 12 of the 2024 media sponsors have offered unwavering support for AMUG 2025.
Every one of those publications that plans to come to the U.S. in the March/April timeframe has committed to being in Chicago for AMUG 2025. What remains to be decided is if they will stay for the shows the following week, and if so, which one(s) they will attend.
The reasons for this decision vary but are centered around AMUG Conferences being at the top of their ‘must attend’ list because of the quality of conversations. The candor and willingness to share insights that AMUG Members relish is also highly valued by the media.
