Strategy Meeting Yields 2013 Plans

Your Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG) Board has just returned from its annual strategy meeting in Jacksonville, FL. This year we set aside one day to strategize with representatives from our Diamond Level sponsors, Stratasys and Objet, on how we can enhance your experience at the conference and increase the awareness of AMUG with users of additive technologies. In addition, we spent two days designing a more hands-on conference and addressing your feedback from the conference survey — a BIG thank you to all that participated in the survey! Overall, these meetings were very productive, and we are excited about the 2013 annual AMUG Conference in Jacksonville, FL!

One of the strategic changes that you will soon see is the incorporation of the phrase “Education & Training Conference” in our website and marketing collateral. As we continue to grow as a users group, we intend to bring you more educational opportunities as well as hands-on training with certificates of completion.

AMUG continues to evolve and grow at a fast rate; that being said, we need your help. There are many ways in which you can assist your users group. I have a short list generated at the 2012 conference but would love to hear ideas from anyone interested in helping out at the 2013 event. Please drop me a note at president@am-ug.com if you are interested.

Best Regards,

Member Survey

On behalf of the entire board, I would like to thank everyone that participated in our recent survey. The compiled information gave us the direction we needed. We really had some good feedback that will help us make next year’s conference even better.

I would also like to thank Objet and Stratasys for attending our meeting and giving us their input on how to improve the user’s experience. That conversation sparked a major change: overhauling the registration process. We hope to have this in place by August (well ahead of conference registration) so that we can begin to line up our sponsors, exhibitors and presenters, which will guide our planning for 2013. Stay tuned.

Have a great summer,

Bret Bordner

Jacksonville, Here We Come

Well, the 2012 inaugural AMUG Conference and Exposition is now history, and it is time to start focusing on the 2013 conference. Next year’s event will take place April 14 – 18 at the Hyatt Jacksonville Riverfront in Jacksonville, Florida. In the future, I will discuss in more detail this hotel/venue and the surrounding area as well as logistics and transportation, so please continue to read the AMUG newsletter.

Once again, I am interested in organizing a few functions during the day for our spouses and guests if there are enough people that want to participate.

See you in Jacksonville in 2013,

Thomas A. Sorovetz
